Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Karen Snyder and I've been a crafter for about as long as I can remember. I am a stay-at-home-Mama of two beautiful children with a husband who makes my dreams possible.

This blog is about all sorts of crafting. I am a paper-crafter from early days, a jewelry-maker with an unending obsession for chain maille. I make chain maille purses, many of which will be chronicled in this blog as their future owners await their completion. I love metalsmithing. I am an indifferent beader and don't get me anywhere near seed beads... they scatter, screaming to get away from me. I love to try new things, have a short attention span so if its a long-term project... I'm probably not doing it LOL.

If you have questions, ask. If you have tips, share. Same with suggestions - share! I want this to be a great forum for people to brainstorm and problem-solve with a good attitude. Crabby Apples need not respond, this is a feel-good kind of blog :)

Earring Entry 8/21/10

Sterling Romanov earrings with Light Colorado Topaz crystals
Here's your chance to enter for today!  Just comment on this post and answer this question:  Who is your personal hero?  Mine is my Mama.  She is a polio survivor confined to a wheelchair, but she doesn't see that as any kind of a handicap.  She is a 911 dispatcher, wife for nearly 50 years, mother of 4, grandmother of 6, a hugely talented artist who paints and draws and someone who never focuses on the negatives in life.  When I grow up, I want to be my Mama :)

  1. My personal hero is my grandfather,a man of discipline, excellence and persona, who has never think anything to be impossible in this world, he had worked hard all through his life. Now he is a sugar, heart and a gout patient but you wont be able to hear any words of unthankfulness or misery from him. He is one true fighter who fights with a smile. God bless him with long and healthy life.Ameen

  2. My personal hero.... Hm... My "Hey-Hey" is one of my personal hero's. She has lived a hard and wonderful life. She loves unconditionally. She inspires and encourages. She lives! I love her so much! Hey-Hey is my grandma on my mom's side. She has been a second mom to me. My mom was young when she had me and my hey hey helped raise me. She's always there for you no matte what. She is a Pearl Harbor Survivor. She is just amazing! :)

  4. My personal hero is my sister. She has had a really hard life so far. Back in the 80's she developed a rare cancer in her nasal area. She is an artist and we believe from working around chemicals, that is the cause. She beat the cancer but from all the radiation treatments she now has numerous problems. She has a tube in her stomach and almost died this past December. She is never negative and always believes in herself and God. She is so inspiring to me. I want to be more like my sister and never give up no matter what!

  5. What a wonderful tribute to your Mom, Karen.
I'd have to say mine is my Daddy. He was an "unofficial" girl scout when we went on camping trips. Took in all the neighbor kids all the time as if they were his own even after they grew up.
But he was the foundation that saw me through so many surgeries. He took early retirement to stay with me in Pittsburgh after my first transplant. As a kid I remember days in his old boat fishing. He had a special place in the bow filled with life jackets just so I could nap. Hearing waves lap against a boat still puts me to sleep.

  10. For me, my father is a hero. He's one of the most generous persons I know, he's always there when you need him, he is fair and loved my mom until she passed away. He has good moral values and wisdom. I am very lucky to be his daughter.
