Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Karen Snyder and I've been a crafter for about as long as I can remember. I am a stay-at-home-Mama of two beautiful children with a husband who makes my dreams possible.

This blog is about all sorts of crafting. I am a paper-crafter from early days, a jewelry-maker with an unending obsession for chain maille. I make chain maille purses, many of which will be chronicled in this blog as their future owners await their completion. I love metalsmithing. I am an indifferent beader and don't get me anywhere near seed beads... they scatter, screaming to get away from me. I love to try new things, have a short attention span so if its a long-term project... I'm probably not doing it LOL.

If you have questions, ask. If you have tips, share. Same with suggestions - share! I want this to be a great forum for people to brainstorm and problem-solve with a good attitude. Crabby Apples need not respond, this is a feel-good kind of blog :)

Earring Entry 8/28/10

Well here it is, the last daily earring entry!  I'm having such a wonderful birthday already and I want to take a minute to thank all of you for being a part of this great event.  You've made my birthday last all month long and it has been non-stop fun for me :)  So today, I want you to leave a comment and tell me about your best birthday ever.

My best birthday was my 35th birthday, though I honestly didn't know it until about 6 weeks later.  As it turns out, I got pregnant with my first child, our son, on my 35th birthday :)  Best birthday gift I ever received and my husband takes all the credit LOL!

  10. I might be a little sappy, but I really enjoy EVERY birthday. This year's one (last month) was a doozy though - my cousin from Australia was over and we spent the day together, just me, her and my family :) It was the first time we'd seen her in over a year, and she was my gift - best gift ever! She is one of my fave people in the whole wide world and to spend the day with her was really special - we laughed, ate, laughed, ate some more, did abit of shopping...it was just blissful :)

Have a lovely birthday Karen, and thanks for sharing it with us! x

  11. that would be the one just gone, my partner took me up to the coast for the day for a day of shopping and beach, then took me out to lunch at a restraunt on the beach, came home and we went out and got a bottle of wine and cooked my fav dinner, and that's why i'm marring him :)

  13. I don't know if I can pick a "best birthday" but I can share a favorite memory surrounding one. My mom has always made our cakes homemade for our birthdays, and on my 9th birthday she was making my favorite cake- maraschino cherry with cherry frosting, it's so good! Anyway, the apartment we lived in at the time had a really small oven (think 1/2 sized camp oven) and the top layer of the two layer cake burned on the edges. I was really disappointed, thinking that it was ruined, but she came through. She used the burnt cake, carved the corners off, and turned it into a number 9! I loved watching her use her creativity to solve problems, and I hope that I manage to do the same when those sorts of things come my way. <3

  15. Hmmm...probably getting engaged on my birthday 6 years ago & going out for dinner with great friends then to Yuk Yuk's to see Joey Elias (ever see Day After Tomorrow with Dennis Quaid & Jake Gyllenhaul about the end of the world? He was the big security guard at the library). Great, funny night! (the fun started with the mother-in-law actually doing the proposing! Lol!)

  17. My most memorable birthday was when I was in grade school, probably about grade 6. I went to school with a girl by the name of Karen (coincidentally) who's birthday was on the same day as me. My parents never made much out of birthday celebrations so I'd never had a birthday party....until Karen invited me to her party. We celebrated together that year and I remember that it made me feel pretty special as well!!
